Sonia is currently the Senior Director of Quality Operations and Quality control for Immucor, Inc., an immunodiagnostic company in Norcross, Ga. She has served in companies such as AstraZeneca, Schering Plough, Eli Lilly, GlaxoSmithKline, and Medtronic in roles of increasing responsibility such as: Regulatory Compliance Manager, Quality Director, Quality Validation Director, Senior Quality Compliance, and Audit Director among others.

It is a great opportunity to learn best practices from other leaders that have gone through the same experiences that you might be having today.
What initiatives are on the horizon at your organization for the quality assurance department in 2015-2016?
Standardization and harmonization of practices and procedures among different plants or even departments within the same plant is always a challenging initiative that is always evolving as we keep learning of the industry trends.
Are there any sessions or topics you’re looking forward to discussing at this year’s conference?
I am interested in learning risk management practices and strategies for process improvement.
How do you believe that advanced technologies impact quality management systems?
Advanced technologies are the way to go if we want to remain competitive in the industry. Our customers expect equally good or better results and faster. As long as the advanced technologies ensures that the key elements of the quality systems remains in place and are sustainable, they are of benefit.
What are your/your team’s goals for the coming year?
We will focus our efforts in making the quality system more efficient for our needs while ensuring compliance.
